ATIS, which is the only association of certified translators and interpreters in the province of Saskatchewan, is committed to high professional standards in its translation and interpretation services.

provide a collective voice for its members;
b) to ensure that members exercise the profession in accordance with
its Code of Professional Ethics; and
c) to give users of translation and interpretation services access
to a body of competent professionals.
FOUNDING MEMBERS
The Association of Translators and Interpretors of Saskatchewan (ATIS) was incorporated in 1980 by a group of Founding Members with a common interest in and concern for translation and interpretation. Their aim was to foster and promote these professions in the province and to provide representation from Saskatchewan on the national Canadian Translators, Terminologists, and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), a member society of the Fédération internationale des traducteurs (FIT).

ATIS, which is the only association of certified translators and interpreters in the province of Saskatchewan, is committed to high professional standards in its translation and interpretation services.
Translation involves rendering a written text from one language into another, conveying the message as fully as possible.
Interpreting involves orally restating as accurately as possible a message expressed by a speaker using another language.
ATIS
- represents Saskatchewan at CTTIC;
- administers ATIS admission requirements and CTTIC certification examination;
- publishes the ATIS Bulletin;
- provides information to translators and interpretors on professional ethics
and practices;
- provides workshops for aspiring and practising translators and interpreters;
- provides
visibility for the local translation and interpretation industry, particularly
for its members.
SERVICES
ATIS members provide services in the following areas:

written translations of documents;
- interpretation for conferences or meetings;
- simultaneous (at the same time);
- consecutive (turn-taking between speaker and interpreter).

for translation and interpretation are not set by ATIS, but negotiated
between translator/interpreter and client. |

In order to become a member, candidates must have passed the ATIS Entrance Exam, or have obtained certification through a national exam administered by CTTIC or through a rigorous on dossier process.
